How it all came to be…
The building where Pinnock’s Coffee House is today was originally built in 1475.
In more recent history, the property belonged to Arthur Pinnock who ran the local dairy and grazed his cows on Ripley green. He passed on the property to his daughter Edith Pinnock, who converted it into a tea shop, selling teas to local residents. The property was sold on after Edith’s death.
Between then and now the property has had a number of different uses including a shoe shop, dress shop, accounting firm and a restaurant.
On the 12th June 2012, Russell opened the doors on Pinnock’s Coffee Shop, reclaiming the name in respect for the history of the village.
A little about me…
I was born and raised on the Isle of Wight and I lived for a time in San Fransisco where my love of pour over coffee comes from. Originally I qualified and worked as a sign language interpreter in Bristol before moving to Ripley in 2003. For as long as I can remember, it has always been my dream to own and run a coffee house.
On the 12th June 2012, my ambitions were realised when I opened the doors on Pinnock’s Coffee House. Born of a vision of the ‘exceptional’, Pinnock’s has gone from strength to strength and now is the most popular coffee house in the area.
Thank you for dropping by!
